The Village of Patchogue rededicated a basketball court at Shorefront Park, 21 years after it was built by Arthur “AJ” Meyer as his Eagle Scout project for Troop 44.
Meyer was then a 17-year-old student at Patchogue-Medford High School.
The original sign was destroyed in a hurricane and a new sign was installed.
Meyer and his wife and children were on hand Friday for a rededication ceremony attended by mayor Paul Pontieri, village trustees Joe Keyes and Kevin Weeks, village clerk Lori Devlin and former Patchogue-Medford School Board member Joe LoSchiavo, among others.
“I really wanted to do something impactful and something different,” Meyer said of his idea for the basketball court.
