Bayport-Blue Point boys varsity soccer commenced their fall 2024 campaign last week.

Their autumn 2024 season consists of 16 contests, six of them non-league matchups. The Phantoms are members of Suffolk County League VIII and have much competition in their division as some of their substantial adversaries consist of Elwood-John Glenn, Shoreham-Wading River, and Mount Sinai.

The Phantoms unlatched their campaign on Academy Street last Wednesday, falling at home 8-0 to the Elwood-John Glenn Knights, then losing at home to the Hampton Bays Baymen last Friday, 4-1.

They trekked out to Shoreham-Wading River on Monday and then hosted Mount Sinai on Wednesday. BBP will go out east to face Southampton on Saturday morning, followed by a slew of six consecutive non-league matchups.

On Sept. 16, they will be the visitors vs. their nearest geographical adversary at the Sayville Golden Flashes. The Phantoms will host the Miller Place Panthers next Thursday, will trek to Wyandanch on tSept. 23, play host to Rocky Point on Sept. 26, will be at the Islip Buccaneers for a matinee on Saturday Sept. 28, then wrap up their sixth and final non-league contest hosting the Kings Park Kingsmen in early October.

Then Bayport-Blue Point soccer will face their League VIII opponents for the second time starting with two road games—at Elwood-John Glenn on Oct. 7 and at Hampton Bays on the 10. The Shoreham-Wading River Wildcats will come to Academy Street on Oct. 15 and BBP will travel to the North Shore for a Friday evening game at Mount Sinai on Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.

BBP boys soccer will conclude the regular season at home vs. Southampton. The soccer club is marshalled by head coach Bobby Schimpf and assistant coach Anthony Cooney.

The varsity roster consists of 24 players including three seniors: forward Alex McAuliff, goalkeeper Colin Robson, and forward Ben Hamrlicek. There are eight juniors on the staff and three sophomores: back defender Jaden Gjero, midfielder John Paul Clemens, and midfielder Tommy Steyert.

There are 10 freshmen on the varsity squad. It’s a young team with optimism for this season and for a bright future.
