Backpack giveaway hosted by Momentum at South Bay for Rehabilitation and Nursing

Momentum at South Bay for Rehabilitation and Nursing partnered with the East Islip School District to provide backpacks filled with school supplies for families in the community to set the kids up for success for the upcoming school year on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

This is Momentum’s third year running this event along with help from seniors in the community that volunteer with the facility.

East Islip resident Barbara Silhan and Debbie McBride organize the event each year, inviting Momentum residents and seniors from local community clubs to volunteer.

The senior volunteers were eager to help organize the backpacks and school supplies for donation to students in the East Islip School district, helping students in need start the school year on the right foot.
