On Saturday, April 5, Kenneth Rehm, a World War II Navy veteran and fixture of the Sayville community, celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by family, friends, and local elected officials at Butera’s.
“The party was fabulous, went off without a hitch!” said Rehm’s daughter, Laura Caccavale. “Andy Whitman and Lindsay Ekizian from [Rep.] Andrew Garbarino’s office had the guests howling!”
There were 100 cookies with a 1942 Buick donated by Amanda Gill, a professional baker and decorator and part of the Rehm extended family.
Town of Islip supervisor Angie Carpenter said, “Throughout his life, Kenneth has been blessed in countless ways. His commitment to his family, his community, and his nation exemplifies the values of dedication, service, and loyalty. As he celebrates his 100th birthday, his life of service and devotion stands as an inspiration to all who know him. Surrounded by his still growing family of five children, 12 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, Kenneth has been an everlasting support and continues to embody the spirit of resilience and love that strengthens our community.”
