Sayville movie theater now screening shows

After being shuttered throughout the pandemic, the Sayville Cinemas reopened on Friday, Nov. 19 to a receptive community that cheered on their emergence from being dark for over a year.

Sayville Cinemas owner Matt Latten said, “We are thrilled to reopen our doors to a very supportive and patient community of movie lovers. We’ve missed you!”

The first screening was earlier in the day at 1 p.m. of the popular sci-fi fantasy, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.”

The community, especially preteens and teenagers, have made Sayville Cinemas an affordable and inviting place with their $5 ticket prices and generous helpings of popcorn.

Greater Sayville Chamber president Eileen Tyznar said, “We are so happy to have Sayville Cinemas back up and running! Sayville and Railroad Avenue now feels whole again! The theater marquee is like a beacon of light in our small community.”
