Sayville Garden Club flower power

Posted

Wow! One hundred and ninety guests came to Land’s End for the annual Sayville Garden Club Luncheon on Monday in support of the nonprofit’s good work and beautification efforts.

Co-presidents Marge Ort and Kate Rowe with luncheon co-chairs Pat Osarchuk and Barbara Connell pulled off a socko program that included special events designer Joseph Campbell of Pedestals Floral Decorators in Garden City Park. Campbell arranged four beautiful floral baskets that were raffled off. Local businesses, members, and some guests donated 100 raffle baskets and the Sayville Rotary gave a generous donation in honor of Edna Limouze, a former member.

During COVID, gift cards were purchased to support local businesses and were given to first responders.

Scholarships are also awarded to Sayville and Bayport-Blue Point High School seniors who pursue environmental sciences, horticulture, or landscape design. Sayville Garden Club volunteers can be seen tending the Sparrow Park Memorial, Gillette House perimeter, Edwards Homestead Herb Garden, 9/11 Garden (Jackie Sayegh Duggan 9/11 Garden) and the Sayville Library with their raised garden beds (produce goes to the Sayville Food Pantry). Say “thanks” when you see them.
