The Great South Bay Quilters of Islip, N.Y., is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to creating beautiful works of quilt art and donating them to various community organizations. Their latest endeavor is a beautiful quilt to be raffled off, with all proceeds donated to Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church located in West Islip, to aid in the Ukrainian refugee war effort. This quilt, measuring 65” x 90”, was made by piecing together fabric enhanced with hand appliqué and hand stitching. It was made to honor the courageous people of Ukraine, whose images of hope, bravery, kindness, and sorrow have inspired the world. The quilt will be on display at the Sayville Grange farmers’ market on June 11 and 18, in the gazebo. It will also be on display at the Sayville Congregational United Church of Christ of Christ at 131 Middle Road in Sayville on June 5. Tickets are $5 each or six for $20.
