Honoring young artists from local elementary schools on Saturday, March 2, and Sunday, March 3 at the Gillette House in Sayville, Bay Area Friends of the Fine Arts association curated art shows for the community to celebrate young talent.

“The excitement was buzzing this weekend at the BAFFA Art Gallery! The elementary schools of the Sayville and Bayport-Blue Point School Districts had their annual BAFFA Student Art show. I always enjoy seeing the children’s smiling faces, proud parents, and loved ones when they visit,” said museum director, Jeanette Leonard.

Only 150 students are accepted from the six elementary schools from grades pre-K to fifth grade.

“The talent these children show at such a young age is inspiring!” said Leonard.

Students were selected by their respective art teachers for inclusion into the show and many of them, along with family and friends, attended to see their works on display amongst the gallery’s white walls of the BAFFA art space in the Gillette House, across the street from Sayville’s Common Ground.

The middle school show, which includes the BBP and Sayville districts, will be held on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The high school show, which includes 12 school districts throughout Long Island, will be held on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 from 1 to 4p.m.
