New York Cancer & Blood Specialists expands to Patchogue Village

Posted

Earlier this month, New York Cancer & Blood Specialists sought a special permit with the Patchogue Village Zoning Board for health-related services at 214 East Main Street at the corner of East Main Street and Rider Avenue

Patchogue East Main Associates originally submitted plans for the three-story mixed-use office building to the Village of Patchogue Planning Board last year. The 46,301-square-foot mixed-used building is proposed for the empty lot, which was once occupied by a NAPA Auto Parts store and is currently located in the D-3 Business Zone.

The New York-based building owner, Signature Properties, would be leasing space out to New York Cancer and Blood for usage of the third, second, and a portion of the first floor. The lower level will be used for either retail or restaurant space as well as the possibility for office space in the basement.

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists senior vice president Neil Foley, also a Brookhaven Town councilman, spoke about the project in his professional capacity on Feb. 6. The East Patchogue NYCBS office, he said, will also remain open offering different services. This new space, he said, would offer OBGYN, pain, women’s breast health and radiology services, whereas the East Patchogue office is more focused on oncology and hematology.

The space would be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Additionally, he said, there will be no narcotics given out on the premises.

No members of the public spoke for or against the application. The zoning board approved the special permit. The application will now require village building permits.

“The presence of New York Cancer and Blood on Main Street and Rider Avenue will send another strong signal out to the medical industry that Patchogue is an ideal location,” added mayor Paul Pontieri, also noting that NYU Langone and LI Community Hospital already committed to locate at the former Burlington building, which is only a few doors away. “Northwell is here, and we are talking with other medical institutions about locating in Patchogue. This influx of the medical industry is a clear sign of the continued revitalization of the Village of Patchogue.”
