With Memorial Day around the corner, it is important to remember those who have fought for our country and are no longer with us. This year, Memorial Day is on May 26, and here are some events to honor those who have displayed their patriotism by serving our country.
Bay Shore
The Bay Shore–Brightwaters Memorial Day parade will take place on May 26. At 9:30 a.m., there will be a memorial service at the Memorial Park at the Bay Shore train station. The Hibernians Festival singers and a student from Bay Shore High School will perform.
The parade will start at 11 a.m., at Lanier Lane and Main Street. It will continue on Main Street until Brentwood Road, continuing onto the Oakwood Cemetery.

West Islip
The West Islip Memorial Day parade will take place on May 26. Lineup will begin at 10:30 a.m. and start-off will begin at 11 a.m. It will start at Paul J. Bellew on Higbie Lane.
Islip
The Islip Memorial Day parade will be on May 26. It will be hosted by American Legion Rusy-Bohm Post 411. It will begin at 10 a.m. and start at Saxon Avenue and Main Street by the TD Bank. It will continue along Main Street and head to Town Hall.

Additionally, the Town of Islip will have a Veterans Salute to Service Resource Fair on May 17. It is a veterans health and wellness event hosted by councilman John Lorenzo, Town of Islip liaison to the Veterans Advisory Board.
The event will be held at Brookwood Hall in East Islip from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Veterans and their families are welcomed; a light breakfast and lunch will be served and there will be refreshments for all. Over 10 different organizations will be attending the event to provide different resources for those who need it.
