Man Arrested for Concealment of Corpse After Human Remains Found

County Police have arrested a Patchogue man for tampering with evidence and concealment of a
corpse after human remains were discovered in East Patchogue yesterday.
During an investigation by Fifth Squad detectives, human remains were discovered along Montauk
Highway near County Road 101 at 4:30 p.m. The remains were transported to the Office of the Suffolk
County Medical Examiner for an autopsy and identification.
Following an investigation by Homicide Squad and Fifth Squad detectives, Garry Cowell, 72, of 20
Edwards St., was arrested and charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence and Concealment of a
Human Corpse. Cowell will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today.
