FREE MOVIE

If you’re looking for a free movie to watch with family or friends, head to Brookwood Hall in East Islip on Oct. 18 for a free screening of Pixar’s “Coco.” The Town of Islip will be hosting the event, sponsored by Good Samaritan University Hospital. Admission is free, though nonperishable food donations are welcomed.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. and spots will be limited to the first 200 cars, so be sure to head out early.

PUMPKINFEST

Islandia will be hosting their annual Pumpkinfest on Oct. 19. The Village of Islandia will hold the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Memorial Recreation Field. Admission is free for this fun-filled day.

Last year’s Pumpkinfest included pumpkin designing, hayrides, hot apple cider, an apple pie-eating contest and live music. Costumes are welcomed at this event and those who decide to dress up can enter the costume contest.

APPLE FESTIVAL

The Town of Islip, Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs will be hosting the 44th annual Apple Festival on Oct. 26. The event will take place at Islip Grange in Sayville, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Craft vendors, amusement rides, fresh apple desserts, pony rides and a petting zoo will be at the festival.

There will also be live music by Southbound and The Other Two, an acoustic duo.

Additionally, a scarecrow contest will take place at 10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome to participate, and entry is free of charge. Participants will need to bring their scarecrow to the Information Tent the day of the event, between 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

This family-friendly event is free admission, and a free shuttle will be provided from the Sayville train station. A rain date is set for Oct. 27.

HALLOWEEN PARADE

The Ragamuffin Halloween Parade will be held in the Village of Brightwaters on Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. Participants will gather at the four corners and the parade will start at 5:30 p.m. Costumes are encouraged for this event and pull wagons are more than welcomed to be decorated in Halloween decor.

The parade route will start at four corners and end at Wohseepee Park. Admission is free and furry friends are also allowed at this event!
