Homecoming win for the Colonials

Posted

This year’s homecoming, which kicked off on Friday, Sept. 19 with the pep rally and dance, followed by the parade and homecoming coronation on Saturday, Sept. 20, culminated with a 20-0 victory over Brentwood before a capacity crowd at the Lincoln Avenue Sports Complex.

The Colonials, led by head coach Paul Longo, were powered by a strong running game behind a stalwart offensive line and a stout defense. In this shutout victory, defense was the name of the game, as the Colonials fought hard to keep Brentwood off the scoreboard throughout the contest. Senior Jayden Johnson and junior Jake Rivera each had dominant games on the defensive side of the ball, with Jayden recording 11 tackles and four sacks, while Jake made 13 tackles (four for a loss) and added three sacks.

Senior star running back Ja’Quan Thomas racked up 304 rushing yards behind a punishing offensive line and scored all three of the Colonials’ touchdowns on the day. With the win, the number one ranked Colonials improve to 2-0 on the young season. They will look to stay undefeated when they take on Sachem East on the road this coming Friday, September 26 at 6 pm.
