As the New Year approaches, those awaiting lottery applications for the Gleneagle Green affordable housing apartment complex on Atlantic Avenue in Bellport will have their chance, online on Jan. 1 and hard copies at specific offices on Jan. 4, according to D & F Development Group principal and developer Peter Florey.

“The Bellport Hagerman East Patchogue Alliance (BHEP), Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area, and the Reference Desk at South Country Library will have them on hand on Jan. 4,” Florey confirmed.

“BHEP will offer a workshop on Jan. 6 between 6:30 and 9 p.m. on how to fill out the application,” said Greater Bellport Coalition chair John Rogers. (Call and reserve a spot at 631-286-9236.)

Deadline for applications: Must be in or postmarked by  March 7. The lottery will be held March 21. The lottery application online on Jan. 1 will be available at www.rentalapp.us.

Florey said the application is several pages long.

“Folks just need to get the basic information in, in order to get on the list,” he added. “Income assets, some degree of credit history, and there are certain income thresholds required.”

The income range is between $35,000 to $75,000.

Florey said lottery winners would be notified some time in March. “Then we’re hoping to be able to provide occupancy in May.”

The nine-building, two-story, 70-unit complex sits on Atlantic Avenue next to the Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area. Florey’s company, Bellport Residences LLC; LPD Management under D & F Development Group, will manage the property. The gated complex offers a community center, structured playground, sitting areas and landscaping on 9 acres with a super.

It’s a $30 million project with its own sewage treatment plant.

Florey’s staff sat with locals for input; they were invited to visit his development in Melville, Highland Green Residences, several times. Florey paid for the buses, offered lunch, and the Bellport visitors talked to those living there.
