This weekend, Sept. 23 through 25, marks the return of the St. John’s Greek Festival. The event has been a mainstay, annual event in Blue Point for over 40 years. After a brief drive-through attempt during the pandemic, the festival went on a year hiatus, but is now back with some of the best Greek food on Long Island.
In addition to gyros, spanakopita, moussaka, pastitsio, Greek salad, and an entire leg of lamb, the women’s organization will be using home-made family baking recipes, including everyone’s favorite baklava as well as galaktoboureko. There will also be baklava cheesecake and iced Greek frappe coffee. Another crowd favorite is their famous loukoumades, a hot, fresh fried-dough pastry topped with honey syrup. Beer and wine are also available.
In addition to the food and dessert, there will be live Greek music and several vendors showcasing clothing, jewelry, and Greek items. You can also win up to $10,000 when you purchase a St. John’s mega raffle ticket—only 500 tickets will be sold and multiple prizes awarded!
The event takes place with free admission on the grounds of St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, 77 Montauk Highway, Blue Point. For more information call 631-363-6450 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
