Gatsby-style celebration for local charity

The fourteenth annual Wish Gala for the Blue Point-based charity Johnny Mac Foundation was held at the mansion at Oyster Bay on Saturday, Feb. 8.

With a snowstorm en route, hundreds of attendees braved the weather to celebrate a night marked by perseverance and community outreach, both strong characterizations of John McNamara, whom the foundation is named after.

President of the Johnny Mac Foundation and John’s widow, Jennifer McNamara stunned in a feathery winter frock that matched the luxurious gray palettes and centerpieces of the evening.

Honorees for the evening were the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, Hal Bruno Camp, and Comfort Zone Camp.

Legislator Dominick Thorne (R-7th district) helped emcee some of the evening and expressed how dutiful Jennifer and the foundation were in leading and sup- porting community initiatives.

Bayport Blue Point Library trustee president, Ronnie Devine and family were in attendance and thanked the foundation for providing the community with events like Johnny Mac Day at the library where hundreds attend for the live music, shopping, and food.
