On Sunday, Aug. 14, the local Doherty-owned Applebee’s, in East Islip, hosted a Flapjack Fundraiser, raising money for local organization Fiercely Leading Youth.
Set breakfast plates were available for $10. In the week leading up to the Flapjack Fundraiser, the Applebee’s hosted a back-to-school drive to help local children prepare for their return to the classroom. Outside of the restaurant was a school bus to “stuff” with donations like backpacks, notebooks and pencils. After the Flapjack Fundraiser was over, 10 percent of all regular sales from the rest of the day, excluding gift cards and alcohol, were donated to the local organization.
Fiercely Leading Youth is a nonprofit 501(c)3 dedicated to inspiring, empowering, and educating at-risk youth to defy the odds and become successful.
