With Halloween just around the corner, the Town of Islip has plenty of tricks and treats up its sleeves. From fun library events to spooky haunted houses, the countdown to Halloween is on with plenty of options to get in the spooky spirit.
Fall Harvest Festival
After kicking off its annual event on Sept. 22, Brightwaters Farms is continuing its annual Fall Harvest Festival at its 14-acre working farm through the end of October. The festival boasts a pumpkin patch, food and other fun activities for kids and adults of all ages.
Witchy History
The Historical Society of Islip Hamlet will host historian Tara Rider with her presentation, “The Devil in New York — The Witchcraft Trial of Goody Garlick” on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Years before the 1692 Salem witch hunts began, accusations ran rampant locally on Long Island. The program will be held at the Islip Public Library, located at 71 Monell Ave, from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Bay Shore Trunk or Treat
The Greater Bay Shore Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual Trunk or Treat for safe and fun trick or treating in downtown Bay Shore on Saturday, Oct. 18. Families can stop by certain retailers in costume to receive a special treat. Later in the day, the chamber will host a family-friendly movie night at the Bandshell featuring “Beetlejuice.” The show starts at 7:15 p.m.
Brightwaters Halloween Parade
The Annual Ragamuffin Halloween Parade will be held in the Village of Brightwaters on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 5:30 p.m. Participants will gather at the four corners with the parade to follow ending at Wohseepee Park. Costumes are encouraged for this event and pull wagons are more than welcomed to be decorated in Halloween decor.
Witches Paddle
The seventh annual Witches Paddle will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 8 a.m. at Gilbert Park in Brightwaters. Residents are encouraged to dress up as witches and warlocks to paddle their way through the water.
