With the holidays around the corner, it is a good idea to get a head start on your holiday gift shopping.

Instead of making purchases at large corporate businesses, consider visiting your small local businesses who have more to offer than you think. This year’s Black Friday is Nov. 29 and Small Business Saturday is Nov. 30.

These are a few businesses on Main Street in Bay Shore and Islip, who will have deals and discounts for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.

In Bay Shore, Living is a fairly new shop on Main Street. They have been open for a little over a year and have a variety of things for anyone, ranging from apparel to home decor. For this year’s Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, Living will be having a 15 percent off your entire order sale.

The shop opens at 10 a.m. on Black Friday. The only items excluded from the sale is Cristina V. jewelry.

Nalu Dry Goods has been around since 2013, located on Main Street in Bay Shore. The shop is known for their surf and skate apparel. They will be having two deals, the first is if you spend $200 you get a pair of retro socks with your purchase. They will also be giving a $20 coupon for every $100 purchased in gift cards.

The socks that are part of the special are new to the store and perfect for anyone who wants to wear their Bay Shore pride. The store will also be having a sale on all Sito sunglasses, through Jan. 1, the shades will be 35 percent off. This mom-and-pop shop has something for everyone, ranging from jewelry, to a variety of apparel, to candles and shatterproof cups.

Nalu will open on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday around 10 a.m.

For anyone interested in getting a new piercing at a low cost, House of Color will be offering discounted prices, as well as for gift cards. Located on Main Street in Bay Shore, as part of their Black Friday sale, all gift cards will be 10 percent off. Both sales will take place on Nov. 29, the shop will open at 12 p.m.

Piercings will be done by Dean and Nick in the shop. Additionally, as part of Small Business Saturday, House of Color will have a Forever Bracelet sale on Nov. 30. The sale will only apply toward matching sets and will be part of a BOGO half off deal. For every Forever Bracelet purchased, the other persons will get their bracelet half off.

There will be additional charms for an upgraded price. The Forever Bracelets will be sold on a walk-in basis starting at 12 p.m. They will be applied by Nick, who is taking part in the Black Friday Piercing sale.

Drew Patrick Spa on Main Street in Bay Shore will be offering gift card packages for this holiday season. They offer different services such as facial spa, medical spa such as injection fillers, different types of massages and much more. Not only does the location provide a variety of spa services, but there is a shop as well where you can buy stocking stuffers.

There will be three different packages to choose from. The first has a $650 value and consists of a head-to-toe combination of treatments. It includes a champagne mud body wrap (50 min), a custom massage (80 min) and a DP luxe custom facial (80 min)

The second package has a $400 value and consists of a custom radiant embrace massage. It features a warm scrub and customized massage followed by a facial. The custom radiant embrace massage is 75 minutes long and the custom facial is 50 minutes.

The last package available has a $350 value. It includes a custom massage (50 min) and a custom facial (50 min). It is a great gift for a first trip to the spa.

Each package’s credit can also be used toward spa services or the retail shop located inside Drew Patrick. The gift cards are active starting Dec. 25 and the services and pricing for each package is valid for one year. After December 25, 2025, the monetary value on the card remains for nine years.

Located on Main Street in Islip, GrowinShade has a variety of plants and pots for the plant lovers in your life. As part of Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, there will be a Buy A Plant, get 10 percent off any pot. They will also have premade gift baskets for those who are looking to get something small but cute for a plant mom.

The shop will open at 12 p.m. on Black Friday and 11 a.m. on Small Business Saturday.
