Top 10 academic leaders of the Class of 2024

Congratulations to the top 10 academic leaders in the East Islip High School Class of 2024! Through hard work and persistent dedication, the following students have earned a spot as one of the top students in the graduating class: valedictorian Kathryn O’Hara, salutatorian Kevin Huang, Logan Beaumont, Kailyn Bloch, Mairead Cardillo, Julia Fink, Jack Milligan, Lorelai Mucciolo, Patrick Vasquez, and Jack Wodicka.

Valedictorian Kathryn O’Hara, who earned a whopping 110.08 weighted GPA, plans to study engineering at Tufts University in Massachusetts. An AP Scholar with Distinction, O’Hara serves as president of the Science Honor Society and is a National Honor Society member, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards facilitator, Just for Kicks senior instructor and ACE Mentor Program of Greater NY volunteer. She is an accomplished musician, playing in the school’s pit orchestra, serving as Honors Symphony president and earning SCMEA All-County honors on viola.

Salutatorian Kevin Huang earned an impressive 109.18 weighted GPA, and will be attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology, majoring in computer science. An AP Scholar with Distinction, Huang serves as president of the Math Honor Society. As a musician, he was named Tri-M Music Honor Society president and earned NYSSMA All-State and SCMEA All-County honors on violin. In athletics, he is the captain of the school’s varsity boys tennis team and earned All-County honors.

The remaining top 10 academic leaders will be attending a varied list of distinguished institutions. Logan Beaumont plans to study chemistry/pre-med at SUNY Stony Brook; Kailyn Bloch plans to study nursing at Monmouth University; Mairead Cardillo plans to study actuarial sciences at University of Delaware; Julia Fink plans to study government/psychology at Smith College; Jack Milligan plans to study business analysis at Le Moyne College; Lorelai Mucciolo plans to study speech pathology at Buffalo State; Patrick Vasquez will be attending Denison University with an undeclared major; and Jack Wodicka plans to study adolescent education English at SUNY Geneseo.

Congratulations to all of the graduates, who will surely keep EI pride in their hearts as they move on to the next chapter of their lives.
