June Open House: The Bay Shore Historical Society will host their annual Open House on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Come visit the Gibson-Mack-Holt House (22 Maple Ave.) to view our historic Bay Shore exhibits. We will host a public barbecue starting at noon.

May Meeting: The Bay Shore Historical Society will meet on Thursday, May 15, at 7 p.m. at the Bay Shore - Brightwaters Public Library (1 South Country Rd., Brightwaters, NY). Guest speaker Marsha Collock will present “Films of the Great Depression: 1929-1939.” This presentation will offer a look at the state of the country during the Great Depression and the role that movies played, both as a reflection of the times and as a method of pleasure and escape from the realities of the harsh conditions many had to endure. During these hard times, Hollywood experienced a golden age and produced films that have stood the test of time.

Bay Shore – Brightwaters Memorial Day Parade: Volunteers from the Bay Shore Historical Society will walk in the 2025 Bay Shore Brightwaters Memorial Day Parade on Saturday, May 26. Their procession will include walkers carrying their banner and vintage cars. They will meet at 10:30 a.m. next to Newins Bay Shore Ford. If anyone is interested in being a part of their procession, reach out by calling (631) 665-1707 or email: bayshohissoc@optonline.net.

Bay Shore Arts Festival: The Bay Shore Historical Society is happy to be returning to the Bay Shore Arts Festival on June 8. Stop by the historical society’s table at the corner of Main Street and Maple Avenue to learn more about Bay Shore history and the society’s mission.
