The Sayville Congregational United Church of Christ at 131 Middle Road in Sayville is presenting its 28th Annual Victorian Tea on Friday, December 6 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m, Saturday, December 7 at noon and 3 p.m. Tickets are $35. Call Connie Kauffman at 631-567-9411 for reservations; there are still places left. In addition, their 6th Children’s Victorian Tea is scheduled on Sunday December 8 at 1 p.m.; tickets for the Children’s Tea are $20. The Queen will be at that one.
“We have savories, tea sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and lots of tea,” said Connie Kauffman, of the Victorian Tea. “We have door prizes, raffles and a Victorian Boutique.” At last count, there were bountiful 65 baskets. As Kauffman spoke with the Suffolk County News, the tea committee was busy setting up in the kitchen. “We have a tea committee of 15 people but really the church congregation is all involved,” she said, about 45, noting they would be greeting, in the Fellowship Hall and the kitchen, all pitching in. As for the Queen on Sunday for the Children’s Tea, “she knights the boys and teaches the girls how to curtsy.” That’s for children, kindergarten and up with an adult.
