County submits plan for outdoor graduations

Posted

Suffolk County has submitted a proposal to the state government that would set the guidelines for safe outdoor graduation ceremonies. The plan must be reviewed and approved by the governor, who has only so far allowed drive-in or drive-through ceremonies.

“Suffolk Students and their families deserve the chance to have live high school graduations.  That’s why, last month, I began working with the Suffolk County School Superintendents Association to develop a plan,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. “I believe that we can do this safely and therefore we should do this because this is truly one of life’s special moments for students and parents.  The state has said they will be revisiting the issue and we urge them to do so as quickly as possible.”

The plan is availabe here in full.
